Looking for information on Samuel Campbell Clegg (b. abt 1735, hanged as a Tory, April,1779,in Ninety Six, SC.)

We suspect that he was the son of Holloway Clegg, Son of Peter Clegg, Son of John Clegg. John Clegg moved from Wakefield, England to Northampton VA. BUT have no hard evidence of the connection between Samuel & Holloway.
Any info that you have would be appreciated.

Do you have any information about George Austin Clegg b 1872 in Texas, son of Austin Hamilton Clegg (b. 4/25/1844 Van Buren, AR and d. 5/13/1895 in Texas, possibly Port Lavaca). I have recently come across him during my research. He was perhaps the most important quarter horse breeder at the beginning of the breed. He lost his ranches and stock during the depression. He ended up at the famous King Ranch in South Texas.

George Austin Clegg was born 22 April 1872 in Thomaston,DeWitt,Texas and died 10 January 1959 in Alice,Jin Wells,Texas. He amrried Letetia Margaret Nichols 12 July 1897. They had two children, Christine Clegg born about 1901 and George Bell Clegg born about 1905. George Austtin CLegg's parents were Austin H Clegg and Dower Powers. Austin Clegg was born in Arkansas about 1846. The 1850 census of Arkansas shows an interesting possibility, Andrew Austin born in Ireland is living in VanBuren Arkansas with a child, Maud Clegg aged six and born in Texas living in his houshold. George Austin, also born in Ireland is living in Pine Bluff wtih William Clegg, aged 22 living in his household.

Austin Hamilton Clegg's father was Edward Clegg, b. about 1820 and d. about 1888. He is buried at Port Lavaca, TX. He married Jane Austin date unknown. They left Van Buren, AR about 1845, which would have been when Austin Hamilton was very young, one or two years of age.

Anybody have more info?

This is Great. Hi my name is Steven Douglas Clegg. I am the son of Norman Clegg who came over from England. His father's name was William Clegg and his Mothers name was Annie Mary Clegg. We lived in the eastern part of the United States in and around Mass. and Rhode Island. But I do think there was other places prior to that but all other family has passed on. I would love to hear from anyone who has any information that might help me find my history and my family crest. PLEASE E-MAIL ME I need this quickly for a school project but I am just plain interested. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Can you tell me how I can research my family crest. I have run just about ever search and I seem to be getting no where. I am also interested in my Family history. Again I seem to run into a brick wall. Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

John James Clegg, married to Maud Lancaster at Hyde, Manchester, UK, in 1916. They had four daughters, Muriel born 1917, Edna born 1920, Irene born 1922, and Maud born 1924. Known to be living in Denton, Manchester UK just after WW2. I am trying to trace both directions, ancestors of John James Clegg/Maud Lancaster, and also desecndants of the four girls. I believe that Muriel married and moved to Australia in the 1950's, and that Maud had a son David around 1946.

I am inquiring about my family who originally was Clegg but changed at some point to Clagg. The furthest name I have is Alexander Clegg/Clagg? who married Susannah Marion. They had a son named James who married Judith Watson, daughter of Johnson Watson, in Bedford Co. Virginia on Dec.7,1800. James & Judith had many children, Joseph being the one who is my G_G_G_Grandfather. By the time Joseph came along the last name was spelled Clagg. He married Nancy Perry?.They had a son named John Lewis Clagg who married Virginia Caroline Holly, these are my G-G-Grandparents, who had my G-Grandfather Willard Clagg. He married Ella Edith Warden.

James & Judith moved from Bedford, Va. to Boutetourte, Co. Va. in 1810 where they were counted in the census. By 1820 they had moved to Gallia couny Ohio. Judith died and James remarried that same year to Elizabeth Cremeans. who is not my direct relative as far as I can tell.My G-Granmother was his 1st wife Judith.

I am interested in finding info on any & all of these people. If you have any please email me.

I am NOT working on the Clegg family, but wanted to pass on this info - there is a large, very well kept CLEGG cemetery off Pleasant Valley Road just south of Monroe, Georgia (Walton County). I was by there a couple of days ago & it has a number of old (mid-1800s) graves in the center which have no engravings, but lots of other marked graves.

One of the early families buried in this lot was GEORGE W. ALLCORN, who married EDALINE CLEGG May 27, 1845 in Walton County, Georgia. George was from Kentucky, according to his son JAMES MARSHALL ALLCORN, who was born Sept. 17, 1854 in Walton County and died May 20, 1947.

I do not have more info than this on the family, but the Walton County cemeteries have been published, so you may be able to get someone to do a look-up for you on the Walton Co. GENWEB site.
Good luck!

I'm looking for the descendents of Alvis Bynum Clegg and Davie Boyd Clegg. Davie Boyd Clegg was my grandmother's sister and they were very close when I was a young child. My mother recently passed away and we found some slides from the 50's with Aunt Davie and my grandmother sitting side by side at my birthday party. We thought some of her family might be interested in copies of these pictures. Timing is important as the slides are very old and we aren't sure if we will be able to maintain them for too long. If anyone is acquainted with this branch of the Clegg family, let me know and I will contact them. Two of the children are AB Jr and Sara Clegg Cox.
Thanks, Nancy

Hi, my name is Amy Clegg and I think this page is absolutely wonderful! It's great to know a little more about my heritage, but, I was wondering, have you ever heard of Hadden Hall? It was owned by my ancestors, but it was turned over to the Crown. If you have any information on when and why Hadden Hall was turned over to the Crown, or about this particular line of Cleggs, please tell me!
